🔍 Configure a custom NPT–BSPP hex nipple online

Looking for a hex nipple between NPT and BSPP male threads - or two of the same male thread in different sizes - and can't find the right combination off the shelf? With the HydraLink configurator you set both male threads independently: NPT-to-BSPP, NPT-to-NPT, or BSPP-to-BSPP, as an exact-fit hex nipple.

  1. Choose Thread A (NPT or BSPP male thread, size freely selectable).
  2. Choose Thread B (NPT or BSPP male thread, independent of Thread A).
  3. Set body length, wall thickness, thread clearance, and bore safety clearance.
  4. Get an instant price and order directly.

What is a hex nipple?

A hex nipple is a fitting with male threads on both ends and a hexagonal center section for a wrench. It connects two female-threaded ports to each other - on a pressure regulator, a pump, a valve, or a line - making it the counterpart to a female-thread adapter. Off-the-shelf hex nipples are usually only available in a handful of fixed size combinations, such as 1/2" NPT to 1/2" BSPP.

Combining NPT and BSPP male threads

NPT (60° flank angle, tapered, self-sealing) and BSPP (55° flank angle, parallel, usually sealed with an O-ring) are two different, non-directly-compatible pipe thread standards. A hex nipple with one NPT and one BSPP male thread bridges exactly that standards gap - typically when American equipment with NPT ports needs to connect to a European system with BSPP/G female threads.

HydraLink hex nipple: two independently selectable male threads

HydraLink is a fully configurable male-thread adapter for NPT and BSPP G pipe threads. Both connection sides can be selected independently, allowing NPT-to-BSPP, NPT-to-NPT, and BSPP-to-BSPP variants with two external threads in any size combination. The hexagonal center section, required thread lengths, external dimensions, and continuous flow channel are calculated automatically from the selected thread sizes. NPT is generated with a standard-based pipe-thread function, while BSPP is modeled as a parallel 55° Whitworth profile using standard-related pitch and thread depth.

How the configurator works

You set Thread A and Thread B independently, define the body length and wall thickness, and fine-tune thread clearance, bore safety clearance, and lead-in chamfer if needed. All seven parameters update the 3D preview live, so you can check the finished hex nipple exactly before ordering.

Typical applications for a custom hex nipple

A configurable hex nipple works as a connector between two female-threaded ports of different standards or sizes, as a reducing nipple between two sizes of the same thread type, for prototypes and test setups in hydraulics and pneumatics, and as a fast solution for repairs when the original hex nipple is no longer available or not stocked in the size you need.

Your benefits

  • ✅ Combine NPT and BSPP freely, both sides independently selectable
  • ✅ NPT-to-NPT or BSPP-to-BSPP reducing nipple in a custom size also possible
  • ✅ Hex body, thread lengths, and flow channel calculated automatically
  • ✅ No CAD skills required
  • ✅ Instant price calculation
  • ✅ Download as STL or order directly with 3D printing

What material should I use for a hex nipple?

PLA is useful for samples and simple parts, PETG for tougher applications, and ASA for outdoor use or higher temperature exposure. The right material choice depends on the load, tolerance, and print orientation of the specific part.

FAQ

What's the difference between this hex nipple and the HydraLink female-thread adapter?

This model generates two male threads (hex nipple), while the female-thread adapter generates two female threads for the reverse use case.

Can I order an NPT-BSPP hex nipple in a custom size combination?

Yes. Thread A and Thread B are selected independently, so NPT-to-NPT or BSPP-to-BSPP reducing nipples are also possible.

Is the STL generated from my input values?

Yes. The STL is generated from the parameters you enter and made available for download or ordering once configured.

Can I download the hex nipple as an STL or order it printed directly?

Yes. Once configured, you can use the model for STL download or order the 3D print directly.

Do I need to check dimensions and tolerances before ordering?

Yes, please check dimensions before ordering. Fit, strength, and tolerances depend on material and print settings.
