NPT–BSPP Adapter ·
NPT to BSPP Adapter Configurator – Thread Difference, Compatibility & Custom Size
Configure an NPT-BSPP female thread adapter online - both thread sides freely selectable. Learn why NPT and BSPP aren't compatible and how to build an exact-fit adapter for hydraulics and pneumatics.
🔍 Configure an NPT to BSPP adapter online
Need an adapter between NPT and BSPP female threads - or two of the same thread type in different sizes - and can't find the right combination off the shelf? With the HydraLink configurator you set both thread sides independently - NPT-to-BSPP, NPT-to-NPT, or BSPP-to-BSPP - and get an exact-fit hex adapter.
- Choose Thread A (NPT or BSPP, size freely selectable).
- Choose Thread B (NPT or BSPP, independent of Thread A).
- Set body length, wall thickness, thread clearance, and bore safety clearance.

NPT vs. BSPP: two thread standards that don't fit together
NPT (National Pipe Thread) is the pipe thread standard used across North America, with a 60° flank angle and a tapered, self-sealing profile. BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel, also called G thread) is the standard used across Europe and much of the rest of the world, with a 55° flank angle and a parallel, non-self-sealing profile that's usually sealed with an O-ring or bonded washer. Because of the different flank angles and thread pitch, an NPT male thread will not properly fit a BSPP female thread or vice versa - an adapter is required to connect the two systems.
When do you need an NPT to BSPP adapter?
Common situations include US-made equipment with NPT ports that needs to connect to a European hydraulic or pneumatic system with BSPP/G thread, imported machinery or measurement instruments with a non-matching thread standard, and repairs or retrofits on existing systems where the original thread combination is no longer available.
HydraLink: one adapter, two independently selectable female threads
HydraLink is a fully configurable female-thread adapter for NPT and BSPP G pipe threads. Both connection sides can be selected independently, allowing NPT-to-BSPP, NPT-to-NPT, and BSPP-to-BSPP variants in any size combination. The hexagonal adapter body, minimum wall thickness, required engagement length, and continuous flow channel are calculated automatically from the selected thread sizes. NPT is generated with a standard-based pipe-thread function, while BSPP is modeled as a parallel 55° Whitworth profile using standard-related pitch and thread depth.
How the configurator works
You set Thread A and Thread B independently, define the body length and wall thickness, and fine-tune thread clearance, bore safety clearance, and lead-in chamfer if needed. All seven parameters update the 3D preview live, so you can check the finished part exactly before ordering.
Your benefits
- ✅ Combine NPT and BSPP freely, both sides independently selectable
- ✅ NPT-to-NPT or BSPP-to-BSPP in a custom size combination also possible
- ✅ Hex body, wall thickness, and flow channel calculated automatically
- ✅ No CAD skills required
- ✅ Instant price calculation
- ✅ Download as STL or order directly with 3D printing
Typical applications
The model is suited for prototypes, fixtures, demonstrators, and individually verified applications in hydraulics and pneumatics - for fast test setups, custom sizes, repairs, or mounting aids where a standard-compliant metal part isn't strictly required.
What material should I use for an NPT-BSPP adapter?
PLA is useful for samples and simple parts, PETG for tougher applications, and ASA for outdoor use or higher temperature exposure. The right material choice depends on the load, tolerance, and print orientation of the specific part.
FAQ
Are NPT and BSPP threads directly compatible?
No. NPT has a 60° flank angle and is tapered, while BSPP has a 55° flank angle and is parallel - the two standards require an adapter to connect.
Can I combine two NPT or two BSPP threads in different sizes?
Yes. Thread A and Thread B are selected independently, so NPT-to-NPT or BSPP-to-BSPP reducing adapters are also possible.
Is the STL generated from my input values?
Yes. The STL is generated from the parameters you enter and made available for download or ordering once configured.
Can I download the adapter as an STL or order it printed directly?
Yes. Once configured, you can use the model for STL download or order the 3D print directly.
Do I need to check dimensions and tolerances before ordering?
Yes, please check dimensions before ordering. Fit, strength, and tolerances depend on material and print settings.
